Paul DeBonis - Assistant Principal
Hello Hale Families,
A new school year brings another set of changes including a much anticipated and welcome return to campus for over 2,000 of our Hale students, and faculty. We are working hard to keep everyone safe with mandatory masks for students and staff, regular disinfecting of classrooms, and weekly COVID testing. With all the changes, one thing remains the same: the outstanding Hale faculty continues to provide our students with the best middle school experience anywhere. Since school closed in March of 2020, teachers have reinvented their curriculum for online instruction, then to the Hybrid model, and now back to live instruction. They deserve acknowledgement for maintaining educational continuity while being forced to modify their methods again and again.
One of my latest responsibilities is distributing Chromebooks to all students as part of our One-to-one initiative. Make sure you have a current Parent Portal account so you can submit a request for a Chromebook, and can access Schoology and the Daily Pass.
Please reach out if you need assistance, stay safe, keep yourselves healthy, and together we will make this a year to remember.
Hello again Hale Charter Academy parents, students and staff.
Just as I was feeling comfortable in a new position, at a new school, my first year at Hale ended with an unexpected school closure, and move to distance learning on March 16th, 2020. Here we are, more than six months later, and we still can't say when we will be back together. During those six months, we distributed over 1,000 Chromebooks and 300 hotspots to students to keep them connected to their classroom teachers. Our teachers have reinvented their educational programs, and everyone has learned to deal with living life from a distance through Zoom meetings.
I continue to provide communication from the school, in the form of email, text & phone messages, Schoology posts, and this website. I have made myself available for tech support questions over the phone, by email, or on my Virtual Tech Support Zoom meeting every morning.
As this unpredictable school year continues, wherever the road leads us next, know that I'm here to support you in any way that I can. Like everyone, I miss seeing our students on campus, and greeting parents as they arrive in the morning. I miss visiting classrooms and watching teachers perform their magic. Let's take advantage of the tools that we have at our disposal to shrink the distance between us, and stay connected. Together, we will get through this.
I look forward to the day when I can see you all again, in person. Until then, stay strong, stay healthy, and Go Huskies!
Hello Hale Charter Academy parents, students, and staff. This is my first year at Hale, and my first time serving as an assistant principal. I am excited to join the Hale family, and to be able to contribute to the success of this outstanding school.
Before arriving at Hale I taught English, French, computer graphics and video production. I have been a CTE Advisor, Work Based Learning Coordinator, College & Career Coach and a Magnet Coordinator.
Among my responsibilities at Hale are evaluation and support of math department faculty, school communications and the master calendar, attendance and enrollment, field trips, transportation, activities, clubs, committees, technology, food service, and fund raising. If you ever have questions or need assistance, you can find me in the attendance office. I look forward to meeting you.
I encourage you to stay on top of everything that's happening at Hale.
