Course Description

Welcome to 8th grade SAS Honors Science,
It is my intend to make this year academically challenging and enjoyable. Students will develop skills necessary for success in the field of Science. Instruction will be differentiated by intergrating both teaching and learning activities that enhance student participation, higher level thinking skills, multiple intelligences, independent research, as well as in depth learning experiences thru inquiry based (hands-on) cooperative learning experiences.
Students will conduct experiments and short inquiries to test hypotheses. Students will practice to collect accurate data, as well as organize and evaluate data (make tables and graphs). Students will be able to distinguish between variable and controlled parameter in an experiment.
Students will meet and exceed the California Science Content Standards. These content standards are posted in the classroom and are available on line ar www.cde.ca/go/board.
Students will master many aspects of Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Astronomy.
