Homework, Class Work and Test Policy

Homework will be assigned daily, including Friday. Homework will be collected in a packet on the day of a quiz or test.

All work needs to be completed showing the original problem and the series of steps required to solve. Work should be neatly organized and completed daily, even though it will not be collected until the test. There may be random Homework quizzes using only the students’ homework assignments. Homework will be worth about 25% of the total grade.

Quizzes will range from 20 to 30 points while tests will range from 40 –60 points.

Grading Scale: A = 90% - 100%, B = 89-80%, C = 79-70%
D = 69-60%, F < 60
Late Work: Late work will be accepted only for excused absences. Students will get 1 extra day for every day of absence to make up work, quizzes, or tests.

Integrity policy – Cheating is not tolerated and will result in no credit for the given assignment, test, or quiz.

Cell Phones: Phones should be off in class. Phone use during a quiz or test will result in a score of zero.

Work Habits: E, S or U: Late work, tardies, and use of classroom time will be taken into consideration when evaluating the grade.

Cooperation: E, S or U: Students are expected to work quietly and attentively, respecting their classmates and the learning environment. If a student is observed using a phone in class more than once, a U will be given at the next grading period.

Course Materials
Each student will need a binder with plenty of white lined notebook paper for daily class work and homework assignments, erasers, and pencils. Graph paper will also be used throughout the year. Students may choose to use a spiral notebook with pockets, rather than a binder with notebook paper if they prefer.

General Information
Each student will be required to take clear and concise notes, complete all assignments (from worksheets and classroom textbook), and participate in all class activities (e.g., cooperative groups, explanations, etc.). Many examples and practice problems will be given during class; therefore, notes will be sufficient and extremely helpful for homework assignments and tests. Work habits and cooperation grades will be given (i.e., E for excellent, S for satisfactory, and U for unsatisfactory).Therefore, all students are required to be responsible and cooperative at all times.
