Jazz Ensemble (Period 0)

Jazz Ensemble is a one year course. Membership in Jazz Ensemble is by audition, and selection does not ensure automatic membership in future years. Jazz Ensemble members play music in a variety of jazz styles, including swing, Latin, blues, etc., and variations within these styles. Instruments needed are alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass, piano, and drums.

Jazz Ensemble members are required to practice a minimum of four hours per week outside of the classroom. (This is your "homework.") Tests will be given periodically to assess progress. Participation in all rehearsals and performances is MANDATORY. (Please enter all rehearsal and performance dates onto your personal calendars to avoid conflicts.) A minimum grade point average of 2.00 must be maintained to be academically eligible to perform. Rules for classroom behavior are to be followed at all times.
