Slave Journal and Scrapbook Project-100 points

 

1. Biography: 20 Points

Write 2 pages on the perspective of a man, women, or child born into slavery in America or coming from Africa. This should be typed and written in first person. Use the notes on Night John, Roots, or research a famous abolition who was once a slave such as Frederick Douglass or Harriet Tubman. 

Required Information: Background Information: Description of the person, family, and birth. Where you currently live, How you were enslaved i.e. born into slavery or captured. Description of plantation life and responsibilities. 

 

2. Scrapbook: 30 Points

3-4 Pages Include at least 6-8 important mementos of you life. i.e pictures, drawings, and artifacts commemorating important life milestones such as the birth of a child, marriage, death of a loved one, or the granting of freedom. Each mementos included should have a description of its importance. 

 

3. Journal/Diary: 30 Points

Include at least five entries that reflect the most important events in your life i.e. winning freedom, birth of a child, death of a lived one.  

 

4. Cover Page: 10 points

All sections will be stapled or bound together to create the journal. The cover page should reflect the interests of the person selected for the journal and neatly decorated. Include a picture, the person's name, and your class heading and date.
